Covid 19 Update

April 1, 2020

Dear BCLA Members:

The BC Lacrosse Association is continuing the postponement of all in-person lacrosse activities until May 1, 2020. Updates to this date are determined by government and local health authority directives and situational changes.

The COVID-19 pandemic is creating hardships for many people. We understand the frustration with the uncertainty of what will happen and when. I repeat the message that I sent last week.

It is too early for any decision on whether the box lacrosse season, or some format of the box lacrosse season, will take place. We urge all our members; from teams, associations, leagues, and directorates to take the same approach. Abandoning on the entire box lacrosse season is detrimental and will permanently damage the Lacrosse in BC.

We need our lacrosse community to be as strong and united. For the next few weeks, waiting to see what will happen will require much patience and calmness from all our members, and hopefully you, as leaders, are setting that example. We must support each other now and when we get our lives back to a new normal, and that will include the game of lacrosse.

Yours in Lacrosse,

Gerry Van Beek BCLA President

Calling all Coaches!

OMLA is looking for coaches for all levels! Please Contact us for more information!  The Association will organize and pay for your attendance at a coaching clinic before the 2020 box season starts to get you up to speed - we will post the clinics available just as soon as they are released.

As a volunteer run organization it takes a lot of people to make things run smoothly throughout the year. We are looking for people to step up and help us out as Refs and Coaches.

If you are interested in being a Head Coach or an Assistant Coach please fill out the Coaches application at:

Registration is now open for the 2020 Box Lacrosse Season!

We run a free indoor drop-in program from the end of January to the end of February - the schedule will be posted here and on our Facebook page as soon as it is finalized.  These sessions are designed for different skill levels and divisions, and will be indicated when published.   Drop in and special clinics continue in March, but only for registered players, until the regular season practices begin.

Practices are either on Tuesdays and Thursdays or Mondays and Wednesdays, depending on Division.  The practice times start at the earliest 5:30 pm and run until 8:30 pm at the latest, with earlier times for younger divisions.  Practices generally start in late March or early April and the regular season runs to mid-or late June, with Provincials taking place in July.  The full schedule will be posted here and on our Facebook page as soon as it is finalized.
